STIR/SHAKEN is a suite of protocols and procedures intended to combat Caller ID Spoofing on public telephone networks.
STIR is an acronym for Secure Telephone Identity Revisited.
SHAKEN is an acronym for Signature-based Handling of Asserted Information Using toKENs.
Caller ID Spoofing is when any caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your Caller ID Display to disguise their true identity.
Sigma Voice does not allow Caller ID Spoofing on our automated calling platform.
FCC rules require telecommunications providers to implement STIR/SHAKEN in the Internet Protocol (IP) portions of their networks by June 30, 2021.
As a result, Americans should benefit by receiving significantly fewer robocalls while still receiving important automated phone calls from organizations like schools and churches.
For more information, visit the FCC website.
The largest telecom carriers in the United States have filed a certification of completion to or STIR/SHAKEN implementation in the FCC's robocall mitigation database.
